How many SWPP student placements can a Canadian business fund per term?
There is generally no cap on the number of student placements a business can claim per semester (Fall, Winter, Summer), provided each student meets program criteria and is paired with meaningful mentorship.
Can we claim both SWPP wage subsidies and SR&ED on the same employee?
Yes, but the portion of salary reimbursed by SWPP is excluded from SR&ED qualifying expenditures. The remaining non-subsidized portion of payroll remains fully eligible for SR&ED tax credits.
How fast are SWPP grant applications processed and approved?
SWPP applications submitted through delivery partners (such as Magnet, TECHNATION, BioTalent, ECO Canada) are typically pre-approved within 5 to 10 business days.
